Project Overview
LNC Floor Coverings were commissioned by the Vale of Glamorgan Council to upgrade a wetroom in one of its Barry properties. The existing flooring had become slippery and difficult to maintain, posing a risk to the tenant. Our brief was to provide a slip‑resistant, waterproof solution that met all council standards while minimising disruption and down‑time.
Scope of Work
This wetroom refurbishment required careful planning and a systematic approach to ensure compliance and durability. Our team handled every stage from removal to final inspection.
Setting up & Removal
We carefully uplifted the old flooring, removed any defective screed and disposed of all waste in accordance with environmental guidelines. Protective measures ensured that adjoining rooms and fixtures were safeguarded throughout the process.
Moisture-resistant subfloor preparation
Once the area was stripped back, we prepared the subfloor with a high‑performance latex screed and waterproofing compound. This created a level, moisture‑resistant base ready to accept the new safety flooring.
Installation of wetroom safety flooring
We supplied and installed commercial‑grade safety vinyl specifically designed for wetroom environments. Joints were heat‑welded to form a completely watertight finish, delivering excellent slip resistance and long‑term durability.
Compliance and quality assurance
Throughout the project we adhered to the council’s specifications and health and safety regulations. Final inspections were carried out to ensure the installation met our own high quality standards and the council’s compliance requirements.
